The British Llama Society will have a stand/marquee this year with enough space for 30 to 35 Llamas. there will be an area for trekking, carting and training displays and also for spinner and fibre displays.

There should also be sufficient space for static displays and it is hoped to hold a photo competition (further details to follow).

There will not be any show classes, but it will be an excellent venue for Llama people to meet up and have some fun.

TREKKING IN WINDSOR GREAT PARK

SUNDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2008

Once again we have been given permission to take our Llamas trekking in Windsor Great Park and to picnic at the Copper Horse which overlooks the long walk to Windsor Castle.

We will meet in the Park at 10.30am and be ready to start trekking by 11am. Be sure to bring your picnic lunch. Directions and an entrance pass will be sent to all who are participating. You will require a vehicle pass.

Whether you have a Llama to bring or not, please join us. Some of our members will bring extra animals to loan to those who are unable to bring any.

As I am sure you are aware, the number of camelids in the UK, particularly alpacas, has increased rapidly in the last few years.

This means that vets who have little experience of dealing with these animals are frequently asked to attend. Please pass on these details if you think your vet might be interested.

The BVCS is always happy to offer help or advice and the membership fee is deliberately kept as low as possible (currently £20/year, including conference proceedings and access to the e-mail discussion group) to encourage all vets or students to join.

Felt Making Workshop - Saturday 2 February 2008

There is to be a Felt day workshop held at Wetherby Town Hall, West Yorkshire on Saturday 2 February 2008. The course is from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Jenny Pepper, a member of the International Feltmakers Association (www.jennypepper.com), will be running the course and she has a soft spot for alpacas.

She plans to cover the basic principles of felt making and create a useable finished item, for example a bag. She provides all the equipment required on the day including printed notes to take…
