Felt Making Workshop - Saturday 2 February 2008

Only three places remaining!

There is to be a Felt day workshop held at Wetherby Town Hall, West Yorkshire on Saturday 2 February 2008. The course is from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Jenny Pepper, a member of the International Feltmakers Association (www.jennypepper.com), will be running the course and she has a soft spot for alpacas.

She plans to cover the basic principles of felt making and create a useable finished item, for example a bag. She provides all the equipment required on the day including printed notes to take away for reference.

Could everyone bring some washed and carded alpaca fleece? Finer the better. Different breeds would be good to experiment with and sample which felts best.

If anyone has experimented with dyeing any fleece, bring that too.

Jenny will also bring some processed and commercially dyed Alpaca tops. This way you can compare the finished felt. There would be a small charge for the processed wool, if required.

In the morning we can learn the basic felt-making process and understand how and why the fibre felts. In the afternoon we can learn the resist technique to make a small bag or pouch.

The day's course will be approximately £25.00, dependent upon numbers attending.

If anyone wishes to attend the course please contact Julie Daniel on 01422 834090 or via e-mail: Julie@CountyAlpacas.co.uk.
